Simpson Strong-Tie Announces SET-XP™ Anchor Adhesive is Code Listed for Uncracked Concrete
Pleasanton, Calif. – Simpson Strong-Tie Anchor Systems announced that its SET-XP™ Epoxy-Tie® anchoring adhesive is now recognized for use in uncracked concrete, meeting the new 2006 International Building Code (IBC) requirements (see ICC-ES evaluation report: ESR-2508). Recognition for use in cracked concrete is pending at this time.
The new SET-XP™ anchoring epoxy was formulated and tested according to ICC-ES AC308 and is in compliance with the 2006 IBC/IRC, the 2003 IBC/IRC and the 1997 UBC codes. It is code listed for use with threaded rod, stainless steel threaded rod and rebar, and is recognized for use at embedment depths up to 20 times the anchor diameter.
Installation is fast and simple, using a nylon brush. There are no special practices required. The SET-XP adhesive can be dispensed with standard Simpson Strong-Tie dispensing tools and nozzles. It cures to a teal color for easy identification as a product meeting the 2006 IBC requirements. The adhesive also is recognized for all installation orientations, and for both Ultimate Strength Design and Allowable Stress Design calculation methods.
